Introduction

GHRP-2, also known as Growth Hormone-Releasing Peptide-2, is a synthetic peptide belonging to the growth hormone- releasing peptide family. It acts primarily through the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a) and stimulates the release of endogenous growth hormone from the pituitary gland.

Unlike recombinant growth hormone, GHRP-2 does not directly provide GH. Its primary pharmacological role is to stimulate the body's own growth hormone secretion. Increased GH may subsequently influence the GH/IGF-1 axis, affecting protein metabolism, lipid metabolism, glucose regulation, and tissue physiology.
